I just had to show you

I have been following Teresa’s progress with my Flirting With Flowers BOM as she did a block each month.
Not long after I put up a new block, she would have it all done waiting for the next month to do that one. I finally got the layout all written out and offered that on my blog and Teresa took hers away with her to her quilting retreat over the last weekend to finish hers.
Here it is.. I am totally blown away with how fabulous it has turned out.
P1090756 (Small) I just want to quote what Teresa said about the pattern….
“Thanks Vicki,
I had a lot of comments on my quilt and I am really happy I made the saw tooth border. It went together so well, all the measurements were spot on and your instructions were a breeze. With every thing going on at the retreat and all the distractions I was a bit worried about having to concentrate on the instructions, but I didn't have any trouble at all. You did a great job and with the colour pictures it was just so easy. Thanks again, I've really enjoyed making this quilt. Now to quilt and bind it!!!”
I love it Teresa and you have done it proud.

Sausage Rolls……….
IMG_0320
A few of you have asked me for the recipe for my sausage rolls that I had cooking in my new oven here
and so here you go…..
I didn't take a picture of them after they came out of the oven and now they are all gone so still no picture…
But ……
This mix makes around 30 sausage rolls. It’s not a perfect recipe but we love it so that is good testament…….
Sausage Rolls
1 kg of sausage mince
1 kg of pork mince
2 eggs
teaspoon Vegetta (Optional) -Flavouring
teaspoon chicken stock powder
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
teaspoon mixed dry herbs
1/2 cup cooked chopped onion
3 slices of fresh bread soaked in water and squeezed excess water out and broken into small chunks
4 sheets frozen puff pastry (thawed out)
extra egg for glazing – whisked
~~~~~~
Pre-heat oven to 180 deg C.
Mix all together (except extra egg) thoroughly and spread two rows per sheet of pastry. Cut the pastry sheet into half lengthways and moisten one side with the egg glaze and roll up into long length. Cut into 3rds or desired lengths and place Baking Paper onto baking trays and then place the sausage rolls on. Brush with the egg glaze and prick with a fork along the length and place into oven at 180 deg Celsius. Bake for approx. 30 – 40 mins depends on your oven cooking time.
Enjoy!
I should say that I didn't eat them all….my DH has eaten half of them and I gave some to his parents too…
Hugs to all…….Vicki
I have been busy finishing writing up the pattern for the Springtime quilt that is going to be available soon from Fresh Hope.
I love how Jenny said it was like us having a baby and it was like that…..nurturing it for 9 months….although it felt like it was longer than that as there was lots of planning and sewing and writing up patterns. To me this is our ‘Baby’ and I hope you all will love it as much as we all did. Us Gum Nutters are very proud of it and are very excited with the release of the pattern which will be soon.
Hugs to all……..Vicki
A quilted quilt to show you.
I finally got my act together and took a photo of this quilt that I got back from Nat (from the Quilting Bug) who machine quilted it for me.
This quilt was a BOM from Debbie Mumm. It’s called Natural Wonders.
I really enjoyed doing it and Nat did autumn leaves all over it to compliment the quilt. With a border design as well.
Natural Wonders BOM Debbie Mumm 2009 (3)
I am now loving having my quilts machine quilted.
I love how the pattern just flows all over the quilt….Love it. I love the feeling of having something finished and looking good too.
Natural Wonders BOM Debbie Mumm 2009 (2)
The part on the very right is the backing fabric and that machine design is all over the quilt except for the very light part (middle) which is the outer border. Thanks Nat! I love it.
Nat is in Victoria and has a fast turnaround for all Edge to Edge quilting and is just the loveliest lady to deal with.
The time has come for me to take my Pin Cushion off for downloading for free.
I had an Ab Fab day at the Craft Fair.. and the last block for Flirting With Flowers BOM
The Craft Fair in Melbourne is one fabulous Fair to go to. I came home with sore feet….but a very happy heart.
First of all I got there in the morning and while waiting for my gorgeous friend Vikki to arrive, I of course had to look around. Mmmmm….Yummm! Lots and lots of eye candy…
I am afraid I had to indulge in getting some goodies and I met the very gorgeous and lovely Lynette Anderson….talk about a really lovely lady!!
Lynette Anderson and Vicki
Look at all Lynette’s gorgeous quilts behind us?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Vikki arrived we headed off to have a coffee and a catch up.
Don’t we make the bestest couple? hehehe.
005~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then my friend Doris arrived (didn’t get a photo with Doris….but will the next time we catch up) and it was time for us to do a workshop. It was with the new Baby Lock sewing machine that had only just been released in Australia a few days before we got to play on them. We both made a Table runner and I tell you it was fun watching it sew as if it was doing hand sewing.
This is my Table runner that I played around doing.

These are the fabulous things I just had to have *smiles*
DPP_0004
Some very stiff stiffening for bags insides….DPP_0005
Some gorgeous lace….
DPP_0006
Couldn’t go past Theodora Cleaves stand without buying something….Love Snowmen. I said, Hi to Barb too….she is a lovely lady too.
DPP_0007
I couldn’t resist this lovely tassel….especially that it was in tones of greens….MMmmmm I just had to have it.
Then of course I had to have
DPP_0009
This glue….I want to try it as all you need is a tiny dot of glue and no pins. Will be great for needle turn and appliqués.
Then I came across a stall with some lovely ric rac….so of course I had to get some of that ….
DPP_0011
and these Bag Handles just had to come home with me…..OOhhhhhh….so many things to buy…
DPP_0010
They are a lot lighter in colour than what they seem to be in the picture….I think a bag will look great with them don’t you?
So there you go…..lots of goodies and delights and now you know why my heart was singing when I got home :)
~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry for such a long post but I also wanted to give you all Block 8 from my Flirting With Flowers BOM. It’s called ‘Buttons’.
DPP_0001
This is the last block and I was able to finish it off with these gorgeous little crocheted flowers I got at the Craft Fair. If you don’t have these then buttons will do just fine.
You can download the ‘Buttons’ block HERE.
Within the next couple of days I will have the instructions for the layout of the blocks all put together for you to download and then you too can make it up into a gorgeous wall hanger.
Have fun and hugs to all……….Vicki
Last week a few of us Gumnut sisters decided to have a little swap amongst us. We used Fiona’s gorgeous pattern ‘Florentine Doily’ and then we all got a name to send our doily to. We had such fun and I got Joy’s gawjus doily
May 2010 157[3]
and Dawn got mine.
003[12]
I love these doilys and Fiona has the pattern available still from her blog.
Also later on today the Among the Gum Trees will have a freebie for June. It’s our lovely Dawn’s turn to give a special project to everyone, so pop on over and have a read of the newsletter and grab the pattern for June….its Ab Fab! I love it.
A date has been set for my son’s wedding! Yay….I am so excited and so we are off to Western Australia in October for a couple of weeks for his wedding. I can hardly wait, but I have to as I got the wedding quilt to finish.
Yesterday I was in a bit of a tizz, because I cut out all the triangle shapes from the two fabrics and sewed them together to form the next border and it was wayyyyyyy too big!!
What???? yes…I had the right amount of triangles….yes they were all around the right way……Mmmm…. I then unpicked them all…..some call it reverse sewing!
Then I cut the shape a bit smaller and recut all the triangles.
Sewed one lot together and Yay…\o/ \o/ happy dance happened!
It fit across the quilt just right! The magazine that it was published in, printed the shape too big.
Anyway its all go go again. That episode took a whole day…Grrrrrrrrrrr. Actually I didn’t swear, so how good am I?
Hugs to all………Vicki
