Delightful lovelies….

I was delighted to find these pegs in a store the other day and thought they would look lovely all wrapped up in their lace, ribbon and ricrac dresses.

I love lace, ribbon and ricrac and before I had them just rolled up and kept in a bag. Now it is all tidy and neat.

When I was in Tassie I got some little teeny tiny pegs too….see the ones in the front row? They are great for those small amounts of ribbon and lace.

Do you love old jewellery? I do and I was privileged to get some the other day from my lovely aunt. These are all clip on earrings and I wont wear them but I will treasure them. I seen on Fee’s blog how she made some fabulous fabric flowers from her Go! Baby and sewed some gorgeous embellishments onto them and is going to use them on her future bags or different things she sews. Great idea Fee.

I was lucky enough to have the little china box that the earrings came in. I do love ‘old’ things and I really need a great big house to have everything on display.

Hope you all are having a great week …

Covering a tin….

DPP_0005 (Medium)

I had these tins waiting very

patiently for me to cover them.

DPP_0003 (Medium)

This adventure meant I had to find my hot glue gun so I could use it.

hot glue gun

Then I had to sort out two different fabrics for each tin.

I picked two different reds for one and two different greens for the other.

Measure the circumference of the tin and add an inch by the height of the tin plus 5 inches.

So my tins fabric worked out to be a 13 1/2 x 9 inch rectangle.

DPP_0001 (Medium)

The top is 13 1/2 x 3 inch rectangle.

Fold back one end by 1/4 inch and press. Wrong sides together and the shorter end.

Place dots of glue up the tin and place tin on the fabric on the end that hasn't been turned back. (Wrong side of fabric on to tin). Roll the tin over the fabric so to encase the tin. Put some dots of glue on to the bottom of the tin and fold back the fabric so that it sits flat and smooth.

Dot some glue around the inside top of tin and fold back the fabric in to the tin, making sure it is smooth.

Next…

Fold over 1/4 inch on both long lengths onto wrong side of fabrics of Top rectangle and press. Fold over one end (wrong sides together) and press.

Place around the top of tin and making sure it is evenly placed around. Lift the corner of the end that isn't folded back and dot a glue under and then secure this end. Randomly place dots of glue under the strip to secure and making sure the ends are aligned dot with glue and secure the folded end in to place.

Decorate with buttons or bows or what ever takes your fancy and use the tins for storing pencils or your bits and pieces.

When I was doing Folk Art and Decorative Painting any tin that took my fancy would be painted.

I did these quite a few years ago and my daughter Zoei has them all now as she loved the bees on them. It was an Annie Lang design.

These ones I painted for a friends daughter.

Letisha's Bee Tins

I have done quite a few different designs on tins over the years I was painting but haven't painted much at all lately and now its fabric covered tins and the hot glue gun and burnt fingers!

Hugs to all…….

Gather your goodies…….

Like the heading says…Gather your goodies….
Like ribbons, lace, ricrac, your favourite buttons, beads, threads and anything that you have got saved but haven't found the right place to sew them on to yet.
Plus of course your choice of background fabric and a Honey Bun Roll of your choice as well.
You can use any fabric you like but I will be using a Honey Bun Roll of Nostalgia.
It’s an oldie but I love it!
The background fabric I am going to use is a light pale fawn colour that matches in with the Nostalgia colours. Of course you can use any colour you like.
What are we collecting all these goodies for you ask?

A new BOM is in the making!
It’s called
“Out Of The Box –
BOM”
Dawn of ‘As Sweet As Cinnamon’ and I are going to give you all a free BOM off our blogs but before you get too excited it’s not until January  2011.
The first blocks will be on January 5th 2011 and there after on the 1st of each month.
We will run this for 9 months and then of course the finale will be the layout of all the blocks.
We have to sew it up yet but our plan is to have 4 stitcheries into one block each per month for you.
So really that’s 8 stitchery blocks
for you to use in your
‘Out Of The Box - BOM’
each month.
We are very excited about this as for a while now we have been wanting to use our saved embellishments and we know you have some saved also.
What we have done so far is already looking fabulous!
Here’s a sneak peek for you all….
Lots of bordered blocks….MMmm yumm!
There are 9 blocks all up…….
So get your goodies ready and be prepared to join Dawn and I on January 5th 2011 for our
‘Out Of The Box - BOM’
Dawn is going to set up a Flickr so everyone can share their monthly stitcheries ….isn't that a great idea? I think so because I don't know how to set it up *grins* and also it’s a great way to see everyone's blocks and that is always good. Because, I don’t know about you but I love seeing what everyone does.
Here is a button that you can put on your blog to let everyone know about our BOM
Out Of The Box BOM 2011
Just right click and copy to your computer and then load it up onto your side bar of your blog with the link back to either mine or Dawn’s blog. We are going to have lots of fun with this BOM *big smile*
Hugs to all………..Vicki
