I have been having a wonderful time stitching by hand these gorgeous
paper pieced shapes.
Its a vintage design and I do love vintage.
It’s called Colonial Garden.
The petals and centre section.
Stitch these together to make a Colonial Flower.
Then sew the octagonal shapes on all around the petals……..
Then sew these together to form rows and include a little green square….
Lots of rows stitched together (all by hand)
And finish with a border (stitched on by hand and even do mitred corners!)
I have yet to put a backing on and quilt it and I have decided that as its all hand
sewn then the quilting has to be done by hand also.
A green binding will be the last to be stitched on as I will do a label and sew that on before
I quilt it so that it is well and truly embedded on to the back of the quilt.
So this will be a first hand sewn quilt for me.
So an heirloom for sure.
Another thing I decided to do was cover the cardboard boxes I had that I keep my projects in.
They are pretty ugly in their original state and looked ghastly on the shelf.
So out come the paper wrapping and I opened up the boxes and traced around
them on the paper and cut out the shapes …making sure to have an extra inch or so.
Making sure also to fold back the paper where there are bits and pieces cut out.
And Ta Da!!!! A covered box and looking way better………
So I got the other one down off the shelf and covered that also.
So no more ugly boxes up on my shelf…..
Hope you all are well and happy and hugs to you all
I’m having a cuppa with you all…………..
