A new granddaughter!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments from my previous blog post and I was going to answer you all but just didn't get there and I am sorry for that but I am sure you understand that as I was busy getting lots of cuddles from my new granddaughter and my kids and grandsons that time just went by and before I knew it I was home again..

So…..without further ado…..

I am thrilled to announce a gorgeous little granddaughter has been born.

Sophie Lee (5)

She wanted to be there waiting for her Noonoo to arrive so I could give her cuddles straight away!

She is adorable and her name is Sophie Lee and she weighed 5lbs 3oz and is growing like a little mushroom.

She was due on the 20th January and I was flying over on the 17th as I thought that she will probably be late like her two big brothers, so I would be there for the birth but no….she couldn’t wait. She was born on the 16th January. All went well and her Mummy (Zoei) is doing well also.

I went to a Dear Jane Exhibition here yesterday and was totally inspired and amazed at how different each one can turn out. Different colours and different borders and some got sick of doing the blocks after so many and so turned them into a little quilt with houses….how clever!

I have some stray blocks from other things and so just might have to do this.

Here are a few pics of the different quilts. I took pictures of the tags so that I would know who did what quilt but for some reason they have turned out blurry!! Grrr!!

I like how the sashing's have little squares in the corners like the quilt below instead of all one colour. Great idea!

It was nice to see the different colours used and this one below was very pretty.

  4. Welcome to Sophie Lee.
I love Dear Jane quilts - but I suspect mine could end up in the "I'm over this" pile - but I love the idea of putting them in house blocks.

  5. Congratulations on your grandbaby!! What a beautiful name.

The Jane adaptation with the houses really makes me think of quilt barns in Dutch Pennsylvania. :)

  8. another beautiful little soul comes into the world... She is a cutie...Congratulations to all concerned...

I went to the Dear Jane Quilts too Vicki... I was inspired for...a nano second - then my inner 'know you better than you know yourself'self cautioned me before I opened my wallet!!!! Can Do books did a roaring trade on 'Dear Jane' books and was taking orders when I passed their stall Saturday lunchtime... I did succumb to a bag of feed sack remnants and a pack of four unfinished embroidery 1930 blocks... Yeah, and like when am I going to do those???? But it was fun and I wandered for a good couple of hours...

Lovely Dear Janes. I wonder if mine will ever be done. Well, I have to actually do some blocks to have it finished, and that doesnt happen enough.
