Blogger’s Quilt Festival

Amy at Amy’s Creative Side blog is having the fourth Blogger’s Quilt Festival.

What a fantastic event this is. Thanks heaps for doing this Amy.

I can’t get to Houston to see all the quilts on display there but I can blog hop to all the ones who have put up quilts on their blogs to show everyone who have linked to Amy’s blog.

Here is my quilt I am entering.

This quilt I sewed for my son Nick and his new wife for their wedding quilt.

I loved sewing it because they asked me to make them a quilt for their wedding and requested red and purple to be in the colour choice of fabrics.

I showed you a photo of it in the last post and I also want to show you more pictures of it now.

8 Top of Star

I got the pattern for it from Michelle Aitkin’s Symphony of Flowers from Quilters Companion Issue No. 20. I also had it professionally quilted by Natalie of The Quilting Bug.

The happy couple love it and I pleased me immensely knowing that they love it.

I used some fabrics from my stash but bought mostly new ones and in the picture the final border looks a dark colour but it is purple.

There was over 80 leaves to Needle turn onto it and lots of flowers as well. It was great as the quilt kept my legs warm when I was sewing these on. I started it in April and it was finished in September.

This is the back of the quilt…..I was lucky enough to get extra wide fabric for the back.

I am yet to take photos so quilting is more seen. I need more practice at this.

So pop on over to Amys blog and have a look at all the gorgeous quilts.

Hugs to all………….Vicki    Gone sewing_png

  3. I love quilts like this one that blend a traditional design with modern, bright fabrics. And I'm a sucker for applique, so really like the way you've used it here. A lovely, lovely quilt...

  7. Vicki,
What a beautiful heirloom quilt for your children. I am sure the couple will treasure it always. I love lone star quilts and have made two of them. I did not add any appliqueR to the ones that I made. Your applique is especially lovely.
Thanks for sharing and for stopping by on my post. I hope you will visit again.

    Enjoy the festival.
    Regards,
    Anna

  8. Purple and red and totally beautiful. This is an heirloom the lucky couple will treasure and pass on. I love that narrow striped fabric you used in one of the borders--intriguing background. Thanks for sharing your quilt's story :)

  14. What a lovely quilt and choice of fabrics. I am working on a lone star wedding quilt now and though it is a bit scrappier and not so stunning, I know the amount of work it takes.
    Thanks for sharing.
