I did it!! I made it in time!

I wasn’t going to do one as I didn’t think I would be able to when I broke my wrist….but as its healing pretty well I decided I needed to do some sewing.

I have done something for a magazine to publish and I will show you a sneak peek a bit later.

But I was given some lovely Caring Hearts blocks from the fabulous Forum Ladies when I broke my wrist (a big hug from them all) and after one of the ladies said she was going to make a machine cover out of the ones she got, I thought…aha!

Why don’t I do the same and so I got all the Caring Hearts out and chose my fabrics from my stash and my EQ6 program up and running and well this is what I have come up with for dressing my “Girl” up.

so I can finally enter it with my cover.

Here my "Girl" is all naked…

and here is her dress :)

I am rather pleased with it and now I don't have to use that plain and boring plastic cover for her.

I have started to read this book.

I love the Elm Creek series of books and have read all of them except this book ---

and I got this from the library yesterday and I started reading it last night. So far it has completely got me enthralled. I love these books by Jenifer Chiaverini.

2009 Hug Swap

It's the day to share what Jenny from (Jenny of Elefantz) and I (Tozz’s Corner) have been planning for months! We held off this swap until after Jenny moved, then I broke my wrist, then our theme of Roses for the swap ended up being the theme for Helen Stubbings Angel swap...it seemed that for a while there the swap was not going to happen. But finally we can announce it! \o/
Welcome to the 2009 HUG SWAP!!

The main purpose of this swap is to make it a beautiful but inexpensive swap, especially for those who are unable to participate in other swaps due to postage costs overseas or due to items being large or heavy (also expensive to post). This swap is a size that can be posted in a mid-size envelope - much cheaper posting within countries and overseas, as it can post as a letter.

There are a few rules to this swap.

1. You must post your partner 2 items - a Mug Hug, and a Mug Mat. They can lay flat when packed, and fit in a medium sized envelope.

2. You must not post anything else in the parcel! This is very important. Remember, many people cannot afford to add extra items or pay large postage so this way no-one feels bad if they cannot add extra items.

3. Do NOT sign up for this swap if you do not think you can get the items made and posted by September 25th. We are aiming for an October 5th delivery date.

4. You must show the HUG SWAP button on your blog. Simply copy and paste the button photo from the top of this post, save it to your computer, upload it to your blog THEN link it to either Jenny’s or my blog.
You have until September 4th to email Jenny or myself and sign up! :-) You must give a valid email address, home address, phone number and your real name along with a link to your active blog. These will be kept confidential - they will only be shared with Jenny and I, and your swap partner.

On the draw date Jenny or I will email you at your nominated email address and once you have replied to that email we can confirm your involvement and you and your partner's name will be up on both our blogs in the participators list under the Hug Swap 2009 button.

So sign up, start sewing and have fun!

I am truly blessed by lovely ladies ♥

Yesterday (Sunday 16th August 2009) I went along to a ‘meet’ that the Craft Forum ladies had organised. It was at Sharlee52’s lovely home (I went in and met Sharon at her work last week)  and Duchess picked me up because I couldn’t drive myself.

I have not met Duchess before but ‘know’ her from our chats on the forum. We arrived at Sharlee52’s home and in we went and there was TrishJ, Horseyprincess and Sharlee52’s friend Gina. I have met Trish before so it was great to see her again. Horseyprincess I hadn’t met but we have chatted on the forum too. It was lovely to put faces to ‘names’ and we all chatted about what women chat about and had show and tell and then Horseyprincess (Sam) brought out a huge parcel and gave it to me!!

 

(I had a bit of trouble opening it and so just ended up ripping it open)

Then Sam said that since February all the lovely ladies from the Craft Forum were all private messaged and asked if they wanted to contribute a block or two to go towards making a wall hanger or something for me in appreciation of all I do for running the Craft Forum.

  Well 38 of the ladies all sent in blocks and Sam ended up with 173 blocks!!

After getting all of these blocks Sam sewed them together and as it was so huge there were some that were left over so these ones I will make into a couple of cushions.

Anyway…Sam made a huge quilt and Kaz Johnson quilted and bound it, (miss~nance)donated the backing fabric, and Geniene made a lovely label for it.

As you would know I was totally flabbergasted and was completely blown away by everyone’s wonderful gestures and gorgeous blocks and I just love the quilt. It is one of my most prized possessions now.

All the ladies had to keep quiet about all of this on the forum and not one slipped up. How’s that for good secret keepers? They are all so proud they kept it from me and it was a total surprise. I thank all of you and I absolutely love my quilt.

It’s nice to have some luck come my way

I am rather pleased with my luck this week as I not only won a giveaway from the fabulous Karen’s blog but I also won a wonderful book from Quilters Companion magazine.

I feel on top of the world with these gorgeous wins as the wonderful Collections for a Cause charm pack I won from Karen’s giveaway

will be just perfect for one of the projects that are in the gorgeous book. Its a fabulous book by Kim Diehl and I was hoping like heck that I would win it as I just love her style and designs.

 

So when I got a package in the mail from Quilters Companion I was just about beside myself :)

I finished off a couple of little things which has kept me sane hehehe

the first is a mug cosy which I sent to Trsh_n as she and I were swap partners from the Craft Forum, this was great for me as it is machine appliqué which was great fun to do and it has given me confidence in doing it more.  

 

and the second is a Framed Hexagon for Ondrea

 

These Framed Hexagons have been a bit of a hit with most everyone on the Craft Forum and I look forward to seeing all of them done too.

Actually I don't know about you but I am feeling a little bit sad in this block being the last one for this series. But you know what that means..I am going to have to design another lot of BOMs. I have enjoyed them so much and I do hope you all have too.
